The world’s most Instagrammable fragrance bottles, revealed

With Christmas days away and many doing last minute present shopping, OnBuy perfume and OnBuy aftershave were intrigued to see which #fragrance bottle is the most popular on #Instagram

Coming in top of the list is No.5 by Chanel with 192,308 posts under the hashtag ‘#chanelno5’. Chanel No.5 is a fragrance for women, which has been out since 1986 and is a floral aldehyde scent.

In second place is J’Adore by Dior with 156,429 posts under the hashtag ‘#diorjadore’. J’adore is a floral fruity fragrance for women and has been around since 1999.

Third place is Sauvage by Dior with 153,730 posts under the hashtag ‘#diorsauvage’. Sauvage was launched in 2015 for men and is an aromatic fougere.

Overall, unsurprisingly the top 10 is dominated by international brands, with Chanel having the largest presence with 4 out of the top 10 being fragrances from Chanel. The top 10 is also dominated by women’s fragrances, they make up 7 of the top 10 (2 male and 1 unisex).

Methodology

  1. Experts at OnBuy perfume and OnBuy aftershave were intrigued to discover the most Instagrammable fragrance bottles.

  2. A seed list was created of the most recognised fragrances globally using these articles Byrdie.com, Goodto.com, Whowhatwear.co.uk, Cosmeticsbusiness.com, Goodhousekeeping.com, Dailymail.co.uk, Glamourmagazine.co.uk and Fragrancex.com.

  3. To record how Instagrammable the fragrance bottles are, hashtags for each analyzed perfume were used. The hashtag used was either ‘#(brand name)(perfume name)’ or ‘#(perfume name)’ the reason for this is because the study wanted to include the most trending hashtag for each scent. The study went with whichever had the most posts under it, except for if the perfume name was a generic word and then the study had to go with ‘#(brand name)(perfume name)’.

  4. The brands were ranked in accordance to the number of posts under each hashtag.

  5. Data is correct as of 20/12/21 and is subject to change.
